This Yama Tabletop Syphon Coffee Maker is a unique kind of brewer. Akin to something in a scientific laboratory, this vacuum-style brewer is as much a conversation piece as it is a quality coffee brewer. Also known as a Vacpot Brewer, it uses an alcohol burner/warmer to heat the water in the brewing process and siphons the water through to make a strong yet smooth, cup of coffee. It has a vintage vacuum coffee maker styling appeal and makes the perfect gift for any coffee enthusiast.

The 3 cup size specification refers to the Yama cup size, which measures about 3-4 ounces per cup. The tabletop siphon brewer is also available in the 5 cup size for sharing or for when you just can't stop at 1 delicious cup.

PRO TIP: Although Isopropyl (Rubbing) Alcohol, which is available at most drug stores can be used in the alcohol burner, Denatured Alcohol can be purchased from most hardware stores and will burn hotter and help heat the water more quickly.

About the Brand

Discover the artistry of Yama Glass USA, where a Taiwanese factory excels in crafting exquisite hand-blow glass that's both tempered and heat resistant. The mastery of this specialty glass brings to life stunning cold brew towers, mesmerizing siphon coffee makers, and captivating beautiful teapots.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE:

  1. Use a slightly finer grind of coffee, somewhere around "auto drip" however you may experiment to taste.
  2. Drop the washable, reusable cloth-covered filter into the infusion chamber with the chain hanging down into the glass siphon tube. Pull the chain down until you can hook it to the bottom of the siphon tube.
  3. Fill the bottom carafe to the 5 mark with hot water and place 5 measuring spoons of coffee in the top chamber.
  4. Fill the burner with alcohol, light the burner, and place directly beneath the bottom water carafe. The water takes about 4 minutes or longer to heat. Using hot water will speed up the process.
  5. Once the water reaches boiling temperatures the majority of the water is siphoned through the glass tube, past the filter, and into the top chamber holding the ground coffee. Keeping the burner lit and underwater carafe allow about 2 minutes to brew.
  6. After your 2 minutes is up remove and cap the alcohol burner (heat source).
  7. Once the coffee starts to cool the liquid is siphoned back down into the bottom carafe. Remove the top, placing it in its convertible lid/stand, and bring the pot to the table for serving.
  8. Gently rock the upper carafe back and forth until it can easily be removed and placed into its stand.
  9. Serve and enjoy your fresh great-tasting coffee.
  10. The most important step: USE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN HEATING WITH AN OPEN FLAME.

Questions

Before you brew

Ask a roaster

Which grind should I pick for this coffee?

Match your brewer: Espresso for espresso machines, Auto Drip for a standard coffee maker, Pour Over for a V60 or Kalita, Chemex, French Press, Aeropress, Moka Pot, Turkish or Cold Brew. We grind right after roasting at no charge. If you own a grinder, choose Whole Bean for the longest peak.

When was this roasted?

It hasn’t been yet. We roast your bag the day your order comes in and ship within one business day, so it arrives inside coffee’s peak-flavor window.

How much coffee is in a bag?

A full pound (16 oz) — about 33% more than the 12 oz bag most specialty roasters ship. That is roughly 30 cups of drip or 22 double shots. 9 oz, 2 lb and 5 lb sizes are available too.

Can I subscribe to this roast?

Yes. Choose the subscribe option above to get it every 2 or 4 weeks, or build a 3-bag box and rotate roasts. Pause, swap or cancel any time from your account.
