Origin of The Beans

Where does Beanetics' Costa Rican beans come from?
The Region

Coffee from Tarrazú, Costa Rica, is renowned for its high quality, grown in rich volcanic soil at high altitudes. It features a bright acidity, full-bodied richness, and a distinctively smooth, fruity flavor profile with hints of berry and citrus.

The Farm

In 1960, 228 small coffee growers in San Marcos de Tarrazú founded Coopetarrazú, aiming for fair profits and representation, challenging the dominance of larger producers. Now pivotal in Los Santos' economic growth, Coopetarrazú supports over 5,000 members with services like technical aid, low-cost loans, and affordable fertilizers. Predominantly aiding smallholders with less than 4 hectares, it employs around 10,000 people annually in various roles. This coop oversees its coffee's complete journey from harvest to export, ensuring consistent quality through regular evaluations.
